Learning to play alongside a busy guitar player—without a bass player—influenced my busy style as I thought I was supposed to be following the guitar lines. It wasn’t until years later that I found out I was supposed to be playing with the bass. Now I just split the difference. Brann Dailor is the drummer of Mastodon. Their new album, Medium Rarities, is out on September 11, 2020.
